The soul of the sword is the blade itself and the forging of the blade was performed by the most senior craftsman, specially in the heat treatment step where the hardness and elasticity of the blade is determined. Our swords need to be able to cut steel wires and bounds back straight after bending 90 degree. To achieve the optimal combination of hardness and elasticity is a skill that takes a whole career to master.
Here we see master CH Chen checking the profile of a blade.
Iron craft is the trade that forge the blade, Wood craft is the trade that make the scabbard, the handle and any wooden parts. Bronze craft is the trade that assemble the fittings.
